Environmental policy
Thon Hotels takes its social responsibility seriously. As a major player in the hotel sector we feel that we have an obligation to contribute with a proactive environmental and social commitment.
Thon Hotels is one of Norway’s largest hotel chains and we have a responsibility to contribute to protecting the environment. We have over 2 million guest nights each year, and by preparing the way for environmentally sound consumption, reducing waste levels and saving energy, we are making a considerable environmental investment.

We certify all of our Norwegian hotels with Eco-lighthouse.
When a hotel is certified it involves many specific environmental initiatives:
• Waste reduction and environmentally sound waste management
• Focus on purchasing environmentally sound products
• Focus on initiatives to improve the working environment
• Organic food
The Olav Thon Group, which Thon Hotels is a part of, has initiated a comprehensive energy saving project, led by Enova. This has so far resulted in annual savings of 26.4 GWh. We are saving the environment without it impacting on the comfort of our guests. In addition, the chain has had a costs saving of more than NOK 20 million.
